Book description

A war injury led to the author being restricted to service on the home front. In 1943 he went to Ukraine to raise India rubber plants to supply Germany's wartime need for tires. When Germany lost Ukraine in 1943, he was transferred to the department of plant cultivation at the Kaiser Wilhelm Institut, which had a branch at Auschwitz. It was only on his way there that he learned it was a concentration camp.
